Google Drive Just Made Marketing With Video Cheap and Easy!
If you’re marketing with video online you are probably using a private video hosting service. Video hosting is the place your video files reside online and are streamed using a player.
If you are using WordPress (and you should!) you probably require an additional plugin or software to play the hosted videos on your website.
Google Drive is a new service by Google for file storage and sharing as well as video hosting and streaming.
There are a few obvious advantages to using Google Drive:
- Google Drive is cloud based – video load and stream very fast (unlike EZS3)
- Google Drive is owned by Google – enjoy the Google juice, indexing and built in sharing
- Most people have a Google Account – makes sharing easy…
Google Docs Just Expanded And Morphed To Become Google Drive.
Anyone with a Google account can sign up for free and is eligible for 5GB FREE storage to get started.
Unlike other private video hosting services, such as Amazon and EZS3, Google Drive is dirt cheap. If you compare Google Drive prices to Dropbox you can see how inexpensive this solution really is.
Google Drive files enjoy all the sharing and privacy options of Google Docs (pretty powerful stuff).
If you are outsourcing your video production, you will need to find a way to transfer large files. Google Drive is a great solution, simply share the file with your video producer (or your producer can upload the video into their Google Drive account and share it with you). This nullifies the need for file sharing solutions such as YouSendIt or Dropbox for example.
Google Drive gives you control over all of your file types in a single place, including video files. With Google Drive, you can:
- Sync or upload video files up to 10GB in size
- Sync or upload video files in the following formats:
- WebM files (Vp8 video codec; Vorbis Audio codec)
- .MPEG4, 3GPP and MOV files – (h264 and mpeg4 video codecs; AAC audio codec)
- .AVI (MJPEG video codec; PCM audio)
- .MPEGPS (MPEG2 video codec; MP2 audio)
- .FLV (Adobe – FLV1 video codec, MP3 audio)
Google Drive Versus YouTube
You may be asking yourself when to use Google Drive for your videos as opposed to simply uploading and publishing them in YouTube.
Google Drive is a form of private hosting.
Private hosting allows you to keep your video content secure and within a membership site for example, while placing your video on a public video sharing site has the potential to go viral or get stolen.
Although you can use YouTube private or unlisted videos, your viewers may click through the video to YouTube and you will lose them in the mix as opposed to a Google drive video embedded in your website.
If your video itself has a monetary value; go for private hosting using Google Drive.
You can allow or stop viewers from downloading, embedding, or even knowing about your presentation without seeking your permission.
Once your video is uploaded you can easily embed the video from Google Drive to your website using an embed code (similar to embedding YouTube videos – Click here to learn How to Embed Google Drive Videos on Your Website ) which you can use to post the video to your own secure site, sales page,or sales funnel.

Your Drive is now accessible in your Google Account Navigation menu:
Upgrading Your Google Drive Account for Cheap Storage
Step 1 – Go to the Settings menu in Google Drive:
Step 2 – Click on Settings and then select upgrade storage:
Step 3 – Select The amount of storage
Next you may want to install the Google Drive for PC which allows you to add documents to your drive by pasting them into your Google Drive Folder on your PC and synching with your drive (much like Dropbox).
Step 4 – Before uploading new files configure your upload conversion settings:
I strongly recommend uploading files to your Google Drive using the browser uploader applet. You will need to install it first.
Uploading the files using the uploader will ensure file conversion on uploading. To install the uploader applet simply go to upload file and select the “configure upload method” option.
