Pay Per Call Affiliate Mobile Marketing – The Future Is Here!

Last night we were on a live interview with Moufid Al-Joundi, VP Network Distribution from Mundo Media Discovering how to promote Pay Per Call offers.

Wow! What an amazing interview! Moufid says it’s his first live webinar, all I can say is; he aced it!

We answered lot’s of questions about promoting Pay Per call offers, got deep into how to find offers, finding converting keywords and ad copy.

What’s the difference Between Pay Per Cal Marketing And Mobile Advertising?

We kick off by clarifying the difference between pay per call marketing and mobile advertising (mobile advertising also commonly referred to as WAP advertising through WAP banners).

The main difference is in how you will get paid or what your return would look like:

For Pay Per Call traffic you get paid out every time your traffic leads to a consumer clicking on a phone number that is unique to you and staying on the call with a customer service rep and you would get paid for having a user click on your number and staying on the phone for a certain minimum amount of time.

WAP advertising is more like traditional affiliate marketing where you would get a cost per install, if you’re running an app install campaign, or cost per lead or cost per pin submit. The differences are also the nature of the traffic that is being driven to the pay per call which is 99% mobile search.

Who Can become a Mundo Media Publisher?

00:04: 30 Who can become a publisher for Mundo Media and who can promote Pay Per Call offers, where these offers are converting around the world. A lot of people have concerns that if they are not in the US then they shouldn’t be promoting pay per call offers.

Mundo Media works with affiliates across the world. As with any affiliate network there is an acceptance process. To sign up you would go to Mundo Media and sign up as a publisher. There are 14 affiliate managers, one of them will either call you on the phone or email you after your application is received.

Anybody can sign up, 99% of our offers are open to affiliates. For Pay Per call programs – they are all US based but that doesn’t mean that international affiliates out there based in outside the US can’t join, the programs are open to everybody. Our headquarters are based in Toronto Canada and we have offices in Amsterdam and Hong Kong. Most of the Mundo Pay Per Call offers are own exclusively by the company where they sell the leads on the back end.

The Mundo Media Platform – How it Works

00:7:36 We log into the Mundo Media Platform interface to a dummy account and take a tour of the offers and metrics.

00:10:20 Searching for offers inside the Mundo Media platform – search by offer or vertical, traffic type or acquisition type. For pay per call is under the acquisition type menu.

00:11:37 The hot offers right now in the pay per call realm, there are over 500 offers to go through, so each affiliate should talk to their affiliate manager to determine the best offers for them to run.

Mundo Media are opening up a lot of WAP offers for mobile marketing. Those mobile offers go right across the world, UK, France, Norway, Spain Portugal, Brazil. Columbia Mundo Media is best known for it’s mobile offers.

00:13:00 Mobile WAP reports and GEO reports or doing a comparative analysis – There is a mobile report that will break down your clicks and leads by phone, model phone, Geo-targeting and more inside the Mundo Media Platform. Essentially to help you optimize your campaigns as quickly as possible to find that sweet spot on return on investment.  There is also an affiliate referral program that pays out 2% for 3 months.

Mundo Media does it’s own research to provide affiliates with data to support their activity including traffic sources, keyword lists and recommended budgets.

00:15:42 – the Mundo Media affiliate Newsletter to provide affiliates with real information on converting offers. Mundo Media breaks everything down by Geos, Google Trends, demographics. One of the most important aspect is ad copy, they take a look at the market and see what ad copy is converting.

Should You Incentivize Pay Per Call Traffic?

00:17:00 Are PPC offers open for incent or non incent?

With Pay Per Call it doesn’t really work with incent traffic. You need to look at pay per call as the ultimate form of affiliate marketing. If you’ve been in the affiliate space, you know that getting people to convert on an offer is a matter of impulse.

With Pay Per Call it’s really a matter of one form of traffic which is Google mobile search – essentially if someone is looking to get divorced and they are willing to do a search on their phone for “ I need a divorce attorney right now” or “ I need a divorce attorney in Los Angeles” and a pay per call offer pops up in their phone they are pretty apt to click on it.

The conversion rate is almost 50% from a click to an actual payout. I’ve never met an affiliate that needs to incentivize a user, they are qualified.

Optimizing Your AdWords Quality Score for Pay Per Call Ads

00:19:26 – How can you optimize your Adwords Campaigns to get a good Quality Score cost per click with Adwords?

With Adwords it’s always a matter of quality score and longevity of running a campaign and their trust in the account. Essentially it’s a matter of starting slow and once you start slow and start finding the sweet spots (and Google is going to keep an eye on you the entire time) you’ll find that your quality score will begin to increase.

There are two main variables that affect your quality score

  1. The click through rate that you are retaining. So if you optimize your campaigns as quickly as possible to optimize your ads and get a good click through rate on your ads that will definitely help your quality score very quickly
  2. The longevity of your campaign. Google is interested in finding out who is going to be with them in the long run.

The beautiful thing about pay per call since 2005 only now the affiliate space is exploding so get in on it as soon as possible because it will make you a munch more competitive affiliate later on.

The Integration Between Mundo Media and Ring Revenue and How to Get Telephone Numbers to Promote a Pay Per call offer:

00:22:00 Let’s search for an offer and discuss how we would go about promoting it. Moufid explains the integration between Mundo Media and Ring Revenue and how to get telephone numbers to promote a Pay Per call offer:

There are two technologies right now. One is the affiliate platform where you select offers and see how much money you generated. The second is the Ring Revenue platform, who has basically made it possible for affiliates to start making pay per call.

Once you select an offer to promote in Mundo Media you will see the campaign restrictions for ad copy and ad media. Once you agree to the terms  Mundo Media will provide a link to Ring Revenue to go through to connect the campaign to Ring Revenue phone numbers and tracking.

Ring Revenue Tracking breaks down your campaigns by an ad group or advertising media. When you run your Adwords campaign and have your unique phone number. Ring Revenue will show you how many people clicked on the phone number, how many of those people converted into a lead and how much revenue you generated. In the Mundo track platform you will see how many leads you generated. All your vital stats will be coming through Ring Revenue.

How to Get Access to Telephone Numbers and Do they Work With Skype and Google Talk

00:28:00 We poll  the audience to find out who is new to pay per call- Most people are new to pay per call and need to get their head wrapped around how to promote pay per call offers. For example can you promote Skype numbers?

If I am an affiliate how do I gain access to a telephone number?

Once you sign up to Mundo Media and you tell your affiliate manager that you want to run a certain campaign, you will receive a link to connect you to Ring Revenue (a tracking platform for Pay Per call) . Ring Revenue will give you unique phone numbers that you would need to run the campaign on Adwords.

There is a learning curve to setting up a campaign, but once you get it it’s really simple and you will find an abundance of traffic at your disposal.

The most important things to remember as an affiliate pay per call is very stable. You cannot mislead users to sign up for pay per call unless you use misleading advertising about FREE – which is not allowed. Mundo Media will get you on a call with Ring Revenue and help you get set up properly and educate you on all the variables.

What are Pay Per Call Affiliates Earning With Mundo Media?

00:34:00 Can you talk about monthly revenue on some of the offers, what are some of the numbers that can be achieved. What kind of earnings are people getting with your network?

It’s hard to tell. Your earning potential is limitless it’s really up to how long you’ve been doing it for and how well you optimize your campaigns. Some affiliates make around $2000 a day and others triple and quadruple that.

They key thing to remember is that this is the beginning of affiliate marketing and pay per call on mobile. If you look way back in the day of ring tones and re-bills people started out slow and didn’t expect those verticals to explode. The same goes for Pay Per call there is a growth factor. One metric by the year 014 there will be more people using their mobile browsers than there will be sing desktops so the opportunity is wonderful.

Traffic coming from mobile search If your computer has Google Talk or Skype on it will highlight phone numbers on your computer. So if you have a phone number on your landing page you can click to call through Google Talk, both would convert into leads in the Pay Per call Model.

Do You Recommend Using Landing Pages for WAP Ads?

00:38:22 Because mobile smartphone and WAP traffic is 99% Google Mobile search you really don’t want someone to go to a landing page – you really want them to click on the phone number. This is your best qualified lead.

You could use a landing page but you want them to click on that phone number, You can’t ignore the fact that if someone clicks on that phone number you have more than a 50% chance of them converting in to .

With regards to how long the user needs to stay on the phone for you to get a payout – it depends on the offer some are 60 seconds , some are 90 or more. But if someone is looking for a service and clicks n a phone number on their phone, chances are they will stay on the phone long enough for you to convert. By the time It all depends on the intent of the user who is running the call

00:40:55 Do you have to use a lander if you target smart phones, only feature phones work without a landing page in Adwords.

With Smartphones affiliates will buy domains just to have something in the display URL.

It’s a mindset shift for most affiliates, especially those who are doing CPA – Pay Per Call is different – you just want someone to click on a phone number and then you are almost ensured a payout, So it’s more on the optimization of your ads and your media buys to show your numbers to the right people.

Can we do Pay Per call through Email traffic and what is considered a good CTR on some of the phone numbers?

00:43:57 What is considered a good average CTR on the offers – that is going to depend on the keywords that you select

Mundo Media uses Proxies and smarphone emulators like GEO Edge you can emulate searching mobile e in a certain location. This way by doing simple searches you will see the same ad copy showing up time and time again – you can bet that ad copy has a high CTR rate.

How much money will they need to spend to get into profit. What kind of starting budget you need to get started with Pay Per Call?

For people that want to research – this is new and there is no real data on this yet.

If we do want to go with a lander for WAP do you provide creatives for that or do I need to create that landing page myself. Mundo Media is open to helping affiliates to set up creatives.

Promoting Pay Per Call Offers on social Networks

00:56:43 Social promotion – Do you generally allow phone number dropping in forums and answer based sites i.e Yahoo answers and the like, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest, Craig’s list. The short answer is that you are allowed, you would need to comply with the terms of each specific campaign.

How Can You Get More Phone Numbers to Promote and Offer and Why Would You Need Them?

      I haven’t tried Bing traffic on Pay Per call offers, but it’s certainly worth a try and may be cheaper than Google!
      Depending on the chosen offer restrictions you probably have many more traffic options, you may need to get creative 🙂

      Hi Rahul,

      I Am not sure what you are asking.

      Do you have a company with a call enter that would like to create a pay per call offer to attract affiliates? If so you would approach Mundo Media or another CPA network with pay per call like offermobi.com to set up an offer. If you would like to track your own phone numbers and run them through your call center then you need RingRevenue.
      Please clarify what you are looking for. I suggest you take a look at the RingRevenue Training as well.

    One quick question for you, I’m new to Adwords (mainly do SEO)..

    Say I’m targeting Bankruptcy lawyers in the US – what’s a good number of adgroups to start out with? And number of keywords?

    Is this what it could look like:

    Adgroup : Need bankruptcy lawyer
    KW’s: need bankruptcy lawyer in chicago etc

    Adgroup: Need bankruptcy advice
    KW’s need bankruptcy advice in chicago etc..

    Am I over thinking this or along the right patH?

      Hi Drew,
      Congrats on starting Pay Per Call! The lawyer niche is an expensive one. I recommend doing some keyword research with the Google Keyword tool and scoping out the prices before starting. It may be cheaper to take the local approach aka Need bankruptcy lawyer NC for example.
      If you do SEO you should also set up a website – you will need a URL for Adwords anyway and get a mini niche site going for best combined results!

    Hi Kawsar,
    Most CPA networks do not accept traffic from Craig’s list and similar sites as your main source of traffic. You can get results using SEO, but they are ultimately interested in media buyers and affiliates using paid ads. So if you want to get accepted to MundoMedia, you may need to change the way you promote PPC…
