Internet Marketing Seminars
As an Internet Marketer I used to frequent Internet Marketing Seminars.
You used to be able to learn a lot at those seminars and you met a lot of people who could work with you.
The seminar gave you a break from the lone ranger marketing or simply from daily life. And seminars can be fun…
To this day I have many good friends and connections I made at seminars.
Out of the 20 people you actually talk to, usually two or three remain in permanent contact. Seminars are a great place to get ideas and see what others are doing.
The thing about seminars is that there are two kinds, and boy are they different from each other!
The Content Seminar
The first kind is a content seminar. Usually offered at the end of an Internet Marketing training program or for members of a membership site. These are the best kind of seminars to attend.
Simply because the organizers already have a relationship with you and are not trying to sell you on a whole lot of stuff you don’t need.
Or because you already paid a high ticket price to attend.
Sometimes there will be guest speakers at these seminars and they will make you an offer to buy there products in a modest way.
And then there is the other kind of Internet Marketing Seminar.
The Selling Seminar
Some of the Internet Marketing Gurus decided to make seminars their business and the pitch fests began.
They started calculating how much each person in the room might spend and building their pitch. How does this fly?
First off remember the seminar organizer gets 50% of the take. This lays the ground for some concentrated selling.
Being in a crowd you get the mass control or mass hypnosis effect, and let’s face it, most seminar presenters invest heavily in public speaking training and training in “selling from the stage”. Yes – this is actually a profession.
So next time you need to decide whether to attend an Internet Marketing Seminar, take a look at the program and ask yourself, what type of seminar is this and will I return home feeling like I just lost my pants in Vegas.
