Mobile advertising is moving away from the days of the banner ad and is getting far more creative. New styles of ads that show up natively in apps like Snapchat and various dating apps are proving that there’s success to be had in a creative, fluid approach to mobile ads. With that in mind, take a look at the ten most successful mobile ads for Q3 2015.
Calvin Klein, which has always found success in ads with sex appeal, was a perfect match for the popular dating app Tinder. The fashion company used a native ad experience that blended in with the standard content. It featured sexy couples and a text message conversation overlaying the image. This was a perfectly-targeted ad.
Coca Cola used new beacon services to target a very specific subset of customers. The company used data to see which of its customers had visited a certain movie theater recently and pushed ads to those users that featured a free ticket to the same movie theater. 60^ of users clicked on the ad and 20% redeemed the ticket. Talk about pushing brand loyalty and incentivizing action! Hidden Valley also used beacon to serve ads to customers who were shopping at or nearby grocery stores. Instead of a standard ad, the company offered users a recipe to try out, which featured a Hidden Valley product.
Facebook’s carousel ads were best used by Febreze, which encouraged users to click through each photo by featuring humorous content. The user was then rewarded at the end with a coupon for a Febreze product. Quality content plus value and reward for the customer is a great way to achieve success.
Snapchat ads have also been very successful, GE, Mountain Dew, and Maybelline all using the app to serve unique ads. GE and Mountain Dew used Snapchat’s new filters to target their audience. GE was spreading scientific awareness by allowing users to change their face to look like Thomas Edison while Mountain Dew had a snap video that used the new filters to show a Mountain Dew customer going ga-ga over the drink by having his eyes become giant hearts. Maybelline went with a different approach by featuring brief videos of model Gigi Hadid that seamlessly connected to the Snapchat video feed.
The one thing all these ads have in common is creativity. They are using modern technologies to connect with users in new and interesting ways. For a full breakdown of all the best ads in Q3, check out the full article below!
